It's Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby time again!
The boys get a couple months notice of the derby date, but thanks to a very full schedule lately, our crew started only three days ago on the conception and creating of both cars. Eek!
Caleb is very thankful to have access to his boss, Dave's, shop just down the road with everything he needs like a sander, paint station, and entertainment for the boys.
Sanding the car into just the right shape.
Polishing the car axles to make the wheels spin faster.

Tegan chose a rocket design with a rounded front and a cool fire and flag painted design. Camden chose a Nintendo Switch controller with a slick decoupaged Mario Kart picture.
First up after arriving at the derby is checking the cars' weights on the official scale. Caleb and the boys had to make some adjustments.
Den Master Janie always does such a fun job with decor.
Checking out the competition. To determine the Best of Show award each Scout gets to look at all of the cars and then is given three tokens to put in the cup of the favorites.
Annnnd they're off!
There are many heats raced to figure out the fastest cars.
This was Camden's very first year in the derby and he WON the Best of Show trophy!
All of the winners.
Lions den.
He was so proud of himself!
Teegs' car ended up being a little too heavy to win any trophies. He is also still working on being happy for the younger sibling who won when he didn't. Oy. Incidentally, Tegan did win Best of Show last year so what our household lacks with regard to procrastination we make up for in creativity. Ha.
Such a fun and memorable night!
